DRDF Signs Agreement with L&DD for Mega Biogas Plant Construction

The USAID – DRDF Dairy Project is collaborating with the Government of Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department (L&DD) in the construction of a large 375 cubic meter biogas unit at the government-owned Bahadarnagar farm, Okara.

An Agreement was signed between Chairman DRDF, Dr. Salman Shah and Secretary Livestock Punjab, Mr. Naseem Sadiq for the construction and upkeep of the plant. Followed by the Agreement, Mr. Naseem Sadiq and the Chief of Party USAID – DRDF Dairy Project, Mr. Jack Moser, visited Bahadarnagar Farm to demarcate land for the biogas plant. The project hopes that this state-of-the-art plant will become a business model for future biogas projects in Punjab and a demonstration site for renewable energy investors and communities. The construction is expected to begin in the third week of June and finish by October 2016.
