Farm Upgradation & Bio-gas Units

USAID-DRDF Dairy Project is upgrading local farms of selected dairy farmers to facilitate farmers in implementing best dairy farming practices and to serve as training and service hubs. The project plans to set up such farms on a 50per cent cost-share basis in over a hundred villages across Punjab.

The upgraded farms will not only provide outreach and universal training on best farm practices to the farmers from surrounding villages, but will also serve as a model for others to replicate. As of April 2016,104 local dairy farms have been upgraded.

The project aims to utilize animal waste as an alternative source of energy to meet rural communities requirements. A pilot50 cubic meter Biogas unit was installed for a dairy cooperative milk chiller in the district of Vehari. The Dairy Project aims to establish additional unit(s) for the benefit of the rural community.
